Here are some of the many notes of thanks we've received for events run by the PCPA and items and programs funded by the Mini-Grant Program. These notes highlight the significant and positive impact the PCPA has made on Pond Cove students, teachers and staff.
Thank you for making it possible for us to have Istar the Whale visit from the Children's Museum. The whale was awesome! We loved learning all about Istar and going inside her. It was really dark inside and really fun!
We learned that Istar is a real humpback whale that visited the coast of Maine many times. She is a baleen whale which means she doesn't have teeth and she uses her baleen to strain her food like plankton and krill. Istar had 10 babies and of her babies had eight more babies so she is a grandmother. We also learned whales slap their tails and breach to get bugs off of them. Whiles like to spyhop too!
Thanks for much for letting us see Istar!

Please express my gratitude to all the PCPA volunteers for the lovely events of the [2010 Teacher Appreciation Week]. Each day brought a new surprise. The magazine subscriptions will mean we will all remember this week throughout the year. I love my eco-bag and the luncheon was fabulous.
Thank you for all your thoughtfulness and for all the support your group provides to the school.

I'm sitting at my desk exhausted yet smiling after another successful Arts Day! I wanted to take a minute to thank you for continuing to support this special day. It's wonderful to dedicate a whole to creativity and the arts. The amount of work this must entail is huge, but I wanted you to know how very much it's appreciated!
Fondly,
Lynn Spadinger
Thank you for your generous library support! Your book fair donation will help us update animal and state/country books that are 10-20 years old! We also managed to order some other titles that are sure to be enjoyed.
Thank you!

Thank you very much for your generous mini-grant approval. The mentors will be thrilled to receive a well-deserved "treat" at Kettle Cove Dairy & Take-out!
The mentors have given a number of students at Pond Cove and the Middle School meaningful academic and/or social/emotional support once a week for 45 minutes. They've made a significant difference in the lives of these students!
Thank you for supporting the mentors.
Sincerely,

Thank you for granting the purchase of a folding screen for displaying artwork and publicizing community events.
I feel very fortunate to live and work in a community that appreciates and supports the arts.

P.S. This note card is from Ruth's Reusable Resources. Thank you very much!
What a spectacular week you provided for us last week!
Everything – from the delicious breakfast on Monday, to the bright and sunny redecorated Teachers' Rooms, to the bottles of water, to the daily gift drawings (which the children enjoyed as much as the staff!), to the luscious and relaxing lunch on Friday – was absolutely wonderful!
You certainly spoiled us – and it was all such fun!! Thank you for all the planning and hard work. All you did for us was so very much appreciated!
Sincerely,

[I want to] thank the PCPA for [its] incredible generosity. I think the [Smartboard] will tranform my teaching and will really motivate the students. You can feel the excitement in my class...I get asked the 'when?' and 'what?' questions a lot by my students.
I have mentioned the grant to teacher friends from other towns and they were astounded by this (me too). I think that the PCPA makes such a huge and tangible difference in our school. I hear this from many teachers here. So, thank you again. I will send the PCPA a video of us using the Smart Board when we have it up and running.

Thank you for all of your support during this school year. Your efforts really make a difference for our school community!
A special thanks for all of the treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. My boat/tote bag is great. I will use it often.
Again, you are appreciated!

Thank you for the gift of books for the art room.
I read books in class as inspiration for a lesson quite often. I love the book
Lily Brown's Painting and just finished a lesson with the first grade which incorporated the work of Eric Carle. It's great to have such a supportive group of parents.

Thank you so much for the very generous gift of a membership to Ruth's Resources. The staff is very excited and many have been there already, returning with many treasures. We missed going to Ruth's, and now it is even more exciting at the new location.
Keep up the great work! We count on you for so many things, your support is truly appreciated.
Sincerely,

The Kindergarten Team would like to thank you for sponsoring Mr. & Mrs. Fish. We had a fantastic visit with them. It was a great compliment to our new fish unit. We learned and laughed a lot!
As always we appreciate all that you do for our school. Thank you so much for all your hard work and positive spirit.
Sincerely,

Thank you so much for the grant with which I purchased a color printer for the Math Lab. What a difference it has made!
There are so many activities that we do on the SMARTBoard that can be printed out for the students to keep, but the final product just wasn't the same when it came of out of the school black and white printer.
[Second graders created} a graph on the computer and SMARTBoard, then were able to print out copies in color for them to take home and for me to display on the bulletin board. They were delighted with their work, and it added a whole new dimension to the understanding of graphing.
Many other students have printed out their work on our new printer as well - some have included completed number grids, computation problems and Name Collection boxes.
I have used the printer with my data-keeping records as well. I record student progress on specific concepts with a color-coded system, which I could see clearly on the computer, but was not able to print the spreadsheets with the same amount of visual clarity.
Thank you very, very much for your generous grant. I also have a supply of ink cartridges that should last us a long time.
With much appreciation,
Debbie Butterworth (and several children who signed her note as well)
